I
would like to extend an invitation to visit our community
of Jeanerette that is located in Iberia Parish and nestled
along the banks of the historic Bayou Teche. Jeanerette
is a community that is blessed with a history of hard working,
proud people that take pride in their community.
The community of Jeanerette and the area surrounding it is
also fortunate to have natural resources such as oil, gas
and salt. The rich soil of the area produces many
crops, but the main crop is sugar cane and Jeanerette is
known as the “Sugar City”. Our economy
also benefits from petro chemical plants, fabrication shops
and a garment plant distribution center.
The Jeanerette area is truly a sportsman’s paradise
with fresh water fishing and hunting such as Lake Fausse
Point, the Atchafalaya Basin and the Vermillion Bay that
offers salt water fishing, hunting and recreation.
The City has a very nice museum and four parks that offer
recreation and solitude to our area residents. There
are beautiful ante bellum homes in and around our community. I
encourage you to visit our community to enjoy the many sites
that offer so much history and entertainment.
