The following resolution was offered by Alderman Clark, seconded by Alderman Bourgeois and carried:

RESOLUTION 8 OF 2023

A RESOLUTION GRANTING THE MAYOR THE AUTHORITY TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE, CITY OF JEANERETTE AND CABOT CORPORATION

WHEREAS, The City of Jeanerette, Louisiana owns a certain tract or parcel of land, together with all of the buildings and improvements thereon and thereunto belonging and all rights, ways, privileges and servitudes in anywise appertaining thereto, containing Twenty-Two and Nine Hundred Fifty-Five Thousand (22.955) acres, situated in the Third Ward of Iberia Parish, Louisiana, partly in Sections 7, 8, 17, and 18, Township 13 South, Range 8 East, being more particularly shown and designated on a plat thereof prepared by Ralph D. McGee, Jr., C.E., dated
February 18, 1975, labeled "A Map showing Land Owned by the Town of Jeanerette to
be leased to Martin Mills, Inc." which plat is recorded in Miscellaneous Book 12, at
Folio 172, under Entry No. 4615 of the records of the Clerk's Office and for Iberia
Parish, Louisiana.; and

WHEREAS, Said tract of land is more particularly described as follows:
Commencing at Point A on said Plat which is the intersection of the southeast right of
way boundary line of Louisiana Highway 85 and the Southwest boundary line of
Southern Pacific Railroad right of way proceeding thence along said railroad right of
way South 48001' East, a distance of One Thousand one hundred twenty-five and six-
tenths (1125.6') feet to Point B on said Plat; thence South 43° 08' West, a distance of
Nine hundred fifty-four and eight-tenths (954.8') feet to Point C on said Plat; thence
North 47° 53' West a distance of One thousand one hundred twenty-five and six-tenths
0125.6') feet to the Southeast boundary line of Louisiana Highway 85, Point D on said
Plat; thence along said highway right of way line, North 43° East a distance of Eight
hundred eighty-seven and two-tenths (887.2') feet, to the Point of beginning. Said tract
of land is bounded on the Northeast by the Southern Pacific Railroad Right-of-Way; on
the Southeast by property of West Bayside, Inc. on the Southwest by property
belonging to the Town of Jeanerette; and on the Northwest by Louisiana State Highway
No. 85.
Being a portion of the same property acquired by the Town of Jeanerette in part from
Mrs. Euphemie Roane Smith by act of sale dated March 27, 1974, filed for recordation Said tract of land is more particularly described as follows:
Commencing at Point A on said Plat which is the intersection of the southeast right of
way boundary line of Louisiana Highway 85 and the Southwest boundary line of
Southern Pacific Railroad right of way proceeding thence along said railroad right of

Being a portion of the same property acquired by the Town of Jeanerette in part from
Mrs. Euphemie Roane Smith by act of sale dated March 27, 1974, filed for recordation; and

WHEREAS, that certain parcel of ground, with improvements, being situated in Section 17 and/or
Section 8 and/or Section 17 and/or Section 18, Township 13 South, Range 8 East,
Iberia Parish, Louisiana containing 4.995 acres. Said parcel has a frontage of 239 feet
on Martin Luther King Drive (formerly Durocher Street) by a depth along its
southeasterly line of 890:64 feet and a depth along its northwesterly line of 889.80 feet
with a rear or northeastern line of 250 feet. Said parcel has much other dimensions,
measurements, boundaries, shape, form, location and configuration as will be shown on
that certain plat of survey by Michael J. Breaux & Associates, Inc., dated April 21,
1993, a copy of which is attached to the Act by which this property was acquired by the
City of Jeanerette, referenced below. Being a portion of the property acquired by
Ronald E. Dauterive in Act of Exchange dated May 9, 1987 and recorded in
Conveyance Book 926 at Folio 829, under Entry No. 87-5342 of the records of Clerk of
Court's Office for the Parish of Iberia, Louisiana.
Being the same property acquired by the City of Jeanerette by Act of Cash Sale dated
August 3, 1993, filed for recordation on August 3, 1993, in Conveyance Book 1058,
under entry number 93-5706, of the records of the Clerk's Office, Iberia Parish,
Louisiana.

WHEREAS, the City of Jeanerette and Cabot Corporation, a Delaware corporation desire to enter into a formal agreement whereby the City of Jeanerette shall lease to Cabot Corporation to occupy and have use of the property described above; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jeanerette that the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign and submit the agreements between the City of Jeanerette And Cabot Corporation.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall become effective July 1, 2023. This Resolution having been, carried with a vote of all Yeahs the above resolution was duly adopted:


THEREUPON, the Resolution was declared adopted this day of 12th June, 2023
