Minutes from the Tuesday August 8, 2023 Personnel and Policy Committee Meeting
Present- Mayor Carol Bourgeois Jr., Susan Colden City Clerk, Alderwoman Tia Simmons, Alderwoman Clay, Treasurer Liz Verdun. Mayor Bourgeois Jr. called the meeting to order and led the prayer. Alderwoman Simmons introduced a formal written policy regarding Call Logs Video Surveillance and investigative material based on the decision from the July Personnel and Policy Meeting. Alderwoman Simmons said she formatted the information to be in line with the other Policies. The Mayor said he had some reservations, because he felt he should have access to the material because he is the supervisor. Alderwoman Simmons said that if that access is granted since the Mayor is not named in the law, then it opens the material for a public records request. Alderwoman Simmons told the Mayor she agrees with him but he should contact Senator Allain and have the statue changed to name the Mayor to have protective access. New Orleans gave their cameras to a third party and all of the cameras in the city had all the footage open to public records request. Alderwoman Simmons said she will be working on revising more policies in the upcoming months. With no other items to discuss the meeting was adjourned.
