RESOLUTION 8 of 2025
PROCLAIMING APRIL AS FAIR HOUSING MONTH

WHEREAS, the City of Jeanerette is a recipient of funding under the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant Program; and

WHEREAS, the Fair Housing Act prohibits housing discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, familial status, sex, or disability, and directs that the administration of housing programs be done in a manner that affirmatively furthers the purposes of fair housing laws; and


WHEREAS, the City of Jeanerette recognizes that all Jeanerette residents are granted an opportunity to obtain safe, affordable, energy efficient housing; and

WHEREAS, the City of Jeanerette is committed to its duty to affirmatively further fair housing and to furthering its mission by making equal access to affordable housing available to every citizen of Jeanerette without regard to any citizen’s race, color, religion, national origin, familial status, sex, or disability; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Jeanerette in the pursuit of the goal and responsibility of affirmatively furthering fair housing opportunities for all citizens of Jeanerette, that the City of Jeanerette does hereby proclaim the month of April as Fair Housing Month.

THEREUPON, the above resolution was duly adopted.
