Minutes from the Tuesday August 6, 2024 City of Jeanerette Finance Committee Meeting Present –Alderwoman Charlene Moore, Mayor Carol Bourgeois Jr. Finance Manager Christie Connor and City Clerk Susan Colden arrived late. Mayor Carol Bourgeois Jr. called the meeting to order and led the prayer. The Mayor then gave out copies of a letter from Attorney Ray Allain, regarding the property for the sewer plant. The Mayor then wanted to discuss the Raintree project and showed Alderwoman Moore the drawing of the layout of the current sewer line and two proposed relocations. The Mayor reviewed Southern’s proposal, as well as the contractor that is working on building the building as well. Cost Estimates are in the area of $180,000. The discussion Then shifted to the proposed time and attendance program. The group then reviewed the rate study complied by Andrew Alleman. Susan Colden arrived and then the discussion reverted to payroll system and Susan said that the police department has missed punch issues with the finger print system. The Mayor wanted Susan to research a few items with the facial vs finger systems, but he said he is leaning to using the facial system. Next the group reviewed the rate study scenarios. Where there is water rate proposed increase of 6% the first year and then 2% per year thereafter until 2033. There are 3 different sewer rate projections ranging from just a DEQ loan, and then DEQ and DRA funding and the final item is assuming no new additional debt. The sales tax report shows a decrease compared to last July. With no other business to report the meeting was adjourned.
