MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING-BOARD OF ALDERMEN Wednesday January 24th, 2024
Proceedings of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Jeanerette, State of Louisiana, at their Special meeting held Wednesday January 24th, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.
Those present were: Mayor Carol Bourgeois Jr., Alderwoman Mariah Clay, Alderwoman Charlene Moore. Alderman Garland Bourgeois Alderwoman Christia Simmons, Alderman Ray Duplechain and Attorney Pecantte.
Alderman Duplechain led the prayer and Alderwoman Simmons led the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Carol Bourgeois Jr. determined that a quorum was present.
The Mayor asked that Agenda be expanded to add Item 6 B, for Contract Change Order No. 5 to increase the contract cost for Frisco by $21,925. Alderwoman Clay offered motion to expand the agenda, second by Alderwoman Moore. roll call vote

5. Public Comment on Agenda items- none
6 A. Resolution 1 of 2024 Designating the Mayor to Act on Behalf of the City for the Sewer System Improvements Capital Outlay Project- Act 465 (House Bill 2) for $1,000,000.00. Alderman Bourgeois offered motion to approve the Resolution second by Alderwoman Clay. roll call vote

6 B. For Contract Change Order No. 5 to increase the contract cost for Frisco by $21,925, 9327-07. Introduction by Nick Sonnier of Sellers and Associates.
Alderman Bourgeois offered motion to approve the Contract Change Order, second by Alderwoman Clay. roll call vote

On motion by Alderman Bourgeois second by Alderwoman Moore to leave regular session and enter executive session, on voice vote of all yea, no nay motion carried.
On motion by Alderwoman Clay second by Alderman Bourgeois to leave executive session and enter regular session, on voice vote of all yea, no nay motion carried.
On motion by Alderwoman Simmons second by Alderman Bourgeois to leave executive session and enter regular session, on voice vote of all yea, no nay motion carried.
Agenda
8. A. Appointment of Treasurer/Tax Collector Alderman Duplechain made a motion to table this item and then made a motion to rescind his motion, second by Alderwoman Simmons. Alderwoman Simmons discussed some points to for the council to consider in hiring the position. There was a discussion regarding the temporary appointment of a Treasurer. On motion by Alderwoman Simmons second by Alderman Duplechain to appoint City Clerk Susan Colden as the Treasurer, roll call vote

8 B. On motion by Alderwoman Simmons second by Alderman Duplechain to table the item, Discussion, and approval concerning agreement between Marshal, Jeanerette Police and City of Jeanerette regarding police protection because Chief Vallot was on a call.

14. Adjourn –On motion by Alderwoman Simmons and second by Alderwoman Moore to adjourn carried on voice vote of all yea, no nay and no abstain.
