Minutes from the March 3, 2025 City of Jeanerette Finance Committee Meeting Present- Susan Colden City Clerk, Alderwoman Charlene Moore, Alderwoman Mariah Clay. Alderwoman Moore called the meeting to order. There were no public comments. Alderwoman Simmons emailed a chart and discussion showing the money spent on the Wetlands Assimilation project. She also mentioned due to permitting issues and property acquisition problems the project has been refocused. She also stated that she has not seen the new budget and description of the new project. Alderwoman Simmons went on to state that from a budget perspective she is concerned about the cities cost for the change of focus, there is only $500,000 available in 1% to pay for our portion. Alderwoman Simmons also reported the remaining ARPA funds. As a conclusion all monies will be closed out in March except the $83,000 in blighted property funds. The discussion went back to the sewer plant. Alderwoman Charlene Moore asked about the DEQ that was mentioned in the October minutes and getting the current plant compliant and about the aerators. The group then reviewed the January P & L and compared budget to actual and noted that the budget is 58% of the budget, most areas not within budget are in the budget amendment. The group also approved Alderwoman Simmons recommendation to transfer $12,181.00 back to 1% sales tax. Alderwoman Clay asked about the Cabot fencing-isn’t that Cabot’s responsibility? There was a discussion about Cabot water usage, and the Alderwoman wanted to have a discussion with Cabot. Then the Police budget was reviewed and fund 55 & 57 police and fire protection and finally utility. With no other items to discuss the meeting was adjourned
