Proclamation

WHEREAS, the City of Jeanerette recognizes the importance of maintaining a strong and effective leadership within the Police Department to ensure the safety and security of its citizens; and

WHEREAS, the position of Chief of Police has become temporarily vacant; and

WHEREAS, Section 2-2001 Emergency Power (4) does allow the Mayor to declare a State of Emergency to exist if there is a threat to public safety, and

WHEREAS, it is imperative to appoint an interim Chief of Police to maintain continuity and stability within the Police Department during this period;

NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that:

The Mayor declares that Terrance Moore is hereby appointed as the Interim Chief of Police of the City of Jeanerette, effective immediately, and shall assume all duties, responsibilities, and authority vested in the office of the Chief of Police;

BE IT FURTHER proclaimed that:

Terrance Moore shall serve in this interim capacity until a permanent Chief of Police is appointed by the board of Aldermen as directed in Section 4-1001 (b) and duly sworn into office;

BE IT FURTHER proclaimed that:

The City of Jeanerette expresses its full confidence in the abilities of Terrance Moore to lead the Police Department with integrity, dedication, and professionalism during this interim period;
